Search on your specific Sub or Counter culture group by name to locate information.  Opposing Viewpoints has the BEST coverage for most of your groups.

  • Gale Opposing Viewpoints  
    Great resource which can be searched or browsed by topic. From this source, you can locate overview articles from reference books, plus opinion essays from a variety of sources.
  • SIRS Researcher  
    You can search the database, or use the Pro/Con browse function to locate articles from a diverse array of sources.
  • Issues and Controversies  
    Overview articles giving background, plus the main arguments pro&con for each of the issues covered. You can search or browse this resource by topic.

Journal and Magazine Articles

From the Power Library Menu, look in the magazine and newspaper section and choose Masterfile Main Edition.  School use only unless you have a public library card.  You can also find magazine and news articles in SIRS and Opposing Viewpoints, in the Pro/Con section of this Lib Guide.


Library Books

  • There are many great books that cover your topics.  The books that we have in our collection which cover both sub and counter culture are arranged alphabetically by subject on the cart.  Please note the following:
    •  KKK/Skin Heads: See Hate and White Supremacists
    • Jihad: See Terrorists
    • PETA: See Animal Rights
    • Suffragists and Feminists: See Women
    • Survivalists: See Militia
    • Vegan: See also Animal Rights
  • Some of the general books, such as Violence in America, Extremists, and Ethics cover a variety of subcultures.
  • Many of the groups are covered in the section of books about the Sixties.

Sociology ebooks

  • Gale Virtual Reference Library  
    From the main menu, choose Gale Virtual Reference Library. This is the Kennett ebook collection most helpful to your topics. Titles include:Encyclopedia of Sociology; Social Trends and Indicators; The Encyclopedia of Crime and Justice, and Immigration.
