Pros and Cons

Issues and Controversies provides overview article, while Opposing Viewpoints and SIRS provide one-sided articles which tend to argue one aspect of each topic. The articles in both SIRS and Opposing Viewpoints can be downloaded into audio format, and translated into Spanish. Open For Debate provides a translator, too.  If you plan to work from home, you need an ID&PW outside of school for all of these databases.  They are available in the library on a red handout at the desk.

  • Gale Opposing Viewpoints
Great resource which can be searched or browsed by topic. From this source, you can locate overview articles from reference books, plus opinion essays from a variety of sources.
  • SIRS Researcher
You can search the database, or use the Pro/Con browse function to locate articles from a diverse array of sources. This is the source you used with Ms. Seltzer to choose your topics.
  • Issues and Controversies
Overview articles giving background, plus the main arguments pro&con for each of the issues covered. You can search or browse this resource by topic.
  • Open for Debate
From the main menu, choose Open for Debate. The following ebook can be used from this site:
--Marriage book for Divorce & Same Sex Marriage

Books have been placed on a cart for you to use.  You may copy or check out these books.  If you are researching cell phones, there is a brand new ebook that you can borrow from us.  See Ms. T. for help.

You can use the attached document as a template for your Works Cited.  Open it up, and then copy and paste the citations you find for each article in each database that you use.
