Library books

Books that may be of help to you have been placed on a small cart.  You may use the catalog to locate additional books of criticism and overviews of your book if that will help you write your essay.  However, the books which specifically address the adaptation of your literary work have been pulled for you.

  • Library Catalog
  • Destiny Quest
The same library catalog with a different look, more visual. You can also use the catalog to locate web sites about your book.

Noodle Tools

Noodle Tools, similar to EZ Bib, is an electronic citation builder.  Use this powerful tool to create beautiful, A+ Works Cited documents!

Gale Literature Resource Center

Your VERY best bet for critical essays about your plays, or generic articles about Shakespeare.

Other Literary Criticism and Shakespeare Resources

Remember, you may need to use several different searches to get articles that will help you.  Try searching on Othello AND Parker or Othello AND Nelson OR Shakespeare AND movie adaptations.  Experiment!

  • Ebsco's via Power Library
You may find some good articles in Ebsco. From the main menu, click on General Reference->Ebscohost->->Ebscohost Web->Choose the following files from EBSCOhost: Main Edition and Academic Search. Search. Please limit your search to full text! From school only unless you have a library card from a PA public library.
  • SIRS Researcher
SIRS Renaissance provides articles about Shakespeare. Be careful as many of the articles also appear in Literature Resource Center. ID&PW needed from home.
  • Internet Shakespeare
A scholarly project with links to the texts and many additional resources to help students of Shakespeare.
  • Shakespeare in American Life
Some interesting articles and perspectives about Shakespeare, from an American perspective.
  • Shakespeare Resource Center
A wealth of information about Shakespeare and his work which may help you better understand the play you are analyzing.
  • Encyclopedia Britannica's Guide to Shakespeare
Not much literary criticism, but great overviews and helpful information to help you with your presentations.
  • Shakespeare Online
Another source to help you with quotes, facts, trivia, and summaries about Shakespeare, although limited analysis can be found here.
  • BBC Shakespeare Helper
A more literary and authoritative "Spark Notes" type collection of Shakespeare help.
  • Shakespeare from LIT2GO
Another source to help you understand and synthesize Shakespeare.

Google scholar

You can always try to locate additional academic articles using Google scholar.  However, you are often directed to subscription only databases like our Literature Resource Center, which you can't access without $, or to ebooks that you can buy.

Don't forget, the library has several copies of the MLA Handbook for Writers of Research Papers, 7th Ed.  If you can't find an example of a source in our KHS handout, check the complete handbook for help.  Even better, ask your teacher or Ms. Teixeira for assistance.
