Tips for Every Research Session

Every research session:

  • Always open NoodleTools - login from Clever 
  • Every time you find a source, create the citation in NoodleTools so you don't forget.  Then create any relevant notecards from that source.
  • Use this Libguide for access to your resources
  • From home, you need the IDs & PWs Home Access Google Doc (link in blue)
  • You will definitely want to use CultureGrams to start your research

When searching, please make sure to choose reputable sites.  Always check for authority, who wrote, sponsored, or published the information you plan to use. When in doubt, ask, or use one of the handy web evaluation papers.  Stay away from sources from Weebly, Google Slides, and other student-generated content.

The library has an excellent collection of cultural resources, particularly  the Cultures of the World series for current cultures.  For past cultures, start with a history of your country.  If your book took place during a specific period such as The Middle Ages or Victorian England, search using the words "daily life."
