Electronic Starters

Here are the links to an electronic encyclopedia and a country database that have excellent coverage on countries and their cultures.  Remember, your library is open 24/7!  You can access these resources from home with an ID&PW, available from the library.

Statistical Information & Country Overviews

These sites give you a quick snapshot about countries, including maps and overviews.

When searching, please make sure to choose reputable sites.  Always check for authority, who wrote, sponsored, or published the information you plan to use. When in doubt, ask, or use one of the handy web evaluation papers.  Stay away from sources from Weebly, Google Slides, and other student-generated content.

Select Books

Several books have been placed on a cart for you.  Try searching the catalog, link in the middle column, to locate additional print sources.  For current cultures, use the Cultures of the World series.  For past cultures, start with a history of your country.  If your book took place during a specific period such as The Middle Ages or Victorian England, search using the words "daily life."
